Gosho-ningyo of Kanjincho Benkei

Exceptional and large scale gosho-ningyo depicting Benkei in the Kanjincho/Ataka Barrier Story, rendered seated with his left leg tucked to the side, wearing a blue silk brocade outer kimono, holding a tasseled stick in his right hand, proffering a scroll in his left, wearing a pilgrim’s pack on his back and a small monk’s cap on his head, carved of wood, covered in gofun with painted features and silk fiber hair, fading, losses to pack and scroll, restorations, cracks to face and feet, overall fine and stable condition.
