apanese Seated gosho-ningyo holding shshi lion mask with elaborate peony flower on head dress with red fringe, well-executed and energetically carved wooden figure with right knee raised and left leg tucked into the side, covered overall with a fine white gofun, painted features, destinctive carving style with hyper-inflated limbs contrasted with narrow wrists and ankles and small hands giving the piece a pneumatic feel, red silk chirmen bib with densely embroidered designs of a flying crane alighting on pine boughs, separately carved wooden mask of a shishi lion dog with colored pigments and moveable ears, with a long red silk mane, old repairs, extemsive cracking.
