Gosho-ningyo with Tea Jar

Large-scale Gosho-ningyo (palace doll) holding a tea jar, carved wood, covered overall with a fine white gofun, painted details, silk fiber hair in a tea whisk style with nakasori shaved spot on top, depicted seated with both feet thrust forward, holding a closed fan in his right hand and a tea jar in his left fashioned of papier-mâché and well painted with chirimen silk crepe accents, elegantly attired in a white brocade kimono with noble hollyhock (aoi) and wisteria (fuji) on a figured ground of paulownia (kiri) blossoms, hair replaced, old repairs, cracking.
