Karakuri Gosho with Sarubobo

Japanese Ikarakuri (Mechanical) Gosho-ningyo Palace Doll holding two stuffed red silk sarubobo monkey talismans, depicting a young boy seated with both legs thrust forward, a large head with small painted features silk side locks, papier-mâché form coveerd in gofun, mounted on a small wooden base with a silk zabuton cushion, wearing a silk brocade haragake bib with a sleeveless chirimen silk crepe jacket with a stylized pine tree bough embroidered on the back, and a lacquered paper eboshi court hat, the sarubobo festooned with bells, a small wooden knob at the back of the doll allows the arms to raise and lower independently, minor wear to sarubobo silk, signs of wear on gosho, fading to textiles, overall fine condition.
