Japanese Kanto-style Kokin-bina doll pair. excellent and unusual example with male sporting a silk summer figured gauze outer robe, female wearing more traditional silk brocade textiles with kinran highlights and elaborately embroidered sleeves with crane and pine motifs; embroidered kakeobi shoulder sash with paulownia design, well-rendered faces of wood covered in a shell white (gofun) with painted details including okimayu sky brows, formal hairstyle on female with sasegami side braids; fan, scepter, lacquered court cap, wear and damage to male textile.
