Japanese Musha-ningyo for the Boy’s Day display depicting the celebrated tea master, Sen no Rikyu (1522-1591), depicted with the shaved head of a monk, wearing a black figured gauze outer haori coat, blue silk brocade hakama trousers, depicted kneeling with  tea implements laid out before him (replaced) head of wood covered in a fine gofun with painted details, Rikyu was tea master and political advisor to Toyotomi Hideyoshi and became an exceptionally influential figure in Japanese history (and was ordered to commit suicide by Hideyoshi in 1591), minor wear to textiles, overall fine condition.
