Japanese sosaku-ningyo (art doll) depicting Soga no Goro in the arrow sharpening scene of Yanone, in a style popularized by Okamoto Gyokusui (1898-1972), with severe sujigama-style make-up, hair rendered in elaborate coiffure, holding an oversized forked arrow emblematic of the scene, dressed in satin weave silks with detailed butterfly embroidery, lacquered paper and metal armor with leather accents, front with a raised image of an ebi (langostino) symbolic of the Ichikawa Ebizo line of Kabuki actors, adorned with additional coiling red and white-striped cord, depicted seated on stool, with both big toes raised in a symbol of power, minor flocking to gofun, damage to right hand, minor cracking, overall fine condition.
