Japanese Standing Gosho Ningyo, Dated 1793, excellent example of a standing gosho ningyo, clothed in purple plaid hakama trousers worn high on the waist with silk brocade obi tying closed a ocher-colored plaid kimono with light blue under kimono, full round face covered in gofun with painted features, silk fiber hair drawn into an elaborate tea-whisk-style hair cut, right hand posed as if holding an object missing, original box (missing) dated Kansei 5(1793) labeling “doll holding scythe,” minor crack to upper back leg, hair replaced, wear to textile, overall fine condition.
