Rare Large-scale Pair of Takeda-ningyo depicting Sogo no Goro and Soga no Juro in a parody of the Tale of Moso, with Goro wearing multiple layers of rich silk brocade kimono with black velvet trim thrown back to reveal large belly and chest, Juro similarly attired holding aloft a digging hoe, both situated in a forest of bamboo covered with snow, holding in their palms a bamboo shoot, faces of wood covered in a fine gofun with exaggerated features and painted details, silk fiber hair, the younger Goro with a topknot and the older Juro with a shaved pate, Moso tells the tale of a young devoted son digging for bamboo shoots in the dead of winter to make a soup for his aged mother, Goro.
