Japanese Takeda-ningyo depicting Otohime, the Undersea Dragon Princess, shown standing amidst crashing waves of papier-mâché, wearing a blue silk brocade kariginu outer jacket with sleeves thrown back to reveal densely embroidered silk crepe under kimono bearing designs of a Genji guruma oxcart and hollyhock, holding a Chinese style fan in her left hand and a bowl containing precious coral in her right, head of wood covered in gofun with painted details including blackened teeth, silk fiber hair done in a long queue with floral crown, mounted on a black lacquer base with front aperture cloth, fading, crack to right hand, waves replaced, stain on back sleeve, overall fine condition.
