Japanese Takeda-ningyo depicting Shiokumi, the Salt Maiden, standing on the Yatsuhashi zigzag bridge, rich silk brocade outer kimono with dragon and cloud motif thrown back to reveal chirimen silk crepe inner kimono with full sleeves embroidered with ornate kusudama flower balls, over her left shoulder a pole bearing two buckets for collecting sea brine trimmed in blue simulating sea water, head of wood covered in a fine white gofun with painted details, unusual inset glass eyes, mounted on a black lacquered base with papier-mâché sea waves in blue, white, and gold accents, front aperture cloth, signs of wear, losses to hair, overall fine condition.
