Takeda-ningyo depicting Sojobo, King of the Tengu, set in a dynamic position with left leg thrust forward, well carved face with wizened features, white silk hair, wearing the small tonkin cap of a yamabushi mountain ascetic, and wings made of painted paper, holding in his left hand the scroll of military secrets, high quality silk brocade outer kimono with sleeves thrown back to reveal chirimen silk crepe under kimono with densely embroidered sleeves depicting the wilderness of Mt Kurama where Sojobo trains the young Ushiwakamaru in the arts of battle, missing fan in right hand, wear to textiles, minor losses, overall fine condition.
