Takeda-ningyo of the Onna-musha Female Warrior Tomoe Gozen (c.1157-1247), depicted standing and attired in a short outer silk brocade kariginu jacket with sleeves thrown back revealing chirimen silk kimono with embroidered sleeves, face of wood covered in gofun with painted details, silk fiber hair, wearing a glod lacquered eboshi court cap, holding a single arrow in her right hand, a bow in her left with a quiver of arrows at he r back, mounted on a black lacquer base with embroidered front aperture cloth, Tomoe Gozen was a famous 12th Century warrior known for her great skills with bow and arrow, became a popular kabuki subject matter in the late Edo Period, fading, hair replaced, minor signs of wear, overall fine condition.
