Japanese Takeda Ningyo depicting Towara Toda (Fujiwara Hidesato) the 10th century warrior depicted standing on the Seta-no-Karashi Bridge with torch in hand, taken from the Towara Toda Monogatari where he confronts a giant serpent laying across the Seta Bridge, with right leg thrust forward, left leg on the stanchion of the bridge holding a flaming torch in his right hand and a bow in his left, face of wood covered in gofun with painted details and silk fiber hair, lacquered paper court cap, silk brocade outer kimono with sleeves thrown back to reveal inner kimono with richly embroidered sleeves, front with black velvet accents and metal butterfly appliqués,  minor fading, wear, to cap.
