Japanese Takeda Ningyo depicting Towara Toda (Fujiwara Hidesato) on the Seta-no-Karashi Bridge,  depicted in a dramatic position with right leg thrust forward, sleeves of outer silk brocade coat thrown back to reveal elaborately embroidered chirimen (silk crepe) sleeves of his under kimono depicting the Castle of Ryujin, the undersea dragon god, right hand holds Chinese-style fan, left with bow, arrow quiver at his back, row of shishi lion faces on his breast, wearing tall lacquered cap, mounted on black lacquered base, bottom with inscription listing piece as of “first quality” and giving identity as Tawara Toda, minor signs of wear, minor fading, overall fine condition.
