Japanese Mitate Gosho of Musume Yokobue from the tale of Dojo-ji Temple, depicted as a shirabyoshi dancer wearing the red hair of a lion dancer with a hat made from two fans with bells attached, peonies in each hand, wearing silk crepe textiles with metallic thread embroidery featuring a large phoenix design, shown in dramatic pose with arms extended and left leg forward as Yokobue dances in front of the Dojo-ji bell, well formed body and head covered in gofun, narrow, slightly downward -curving eyes, painted details, elaborate display case with thick gofun flowers along rim, original box (missing), minor fading to textiles, spider cracks along arm, Mounted on contemporary black lacquer base.
