(One of pair) Musha Ningyo Boy’s Day display depicting the Taiko (Toyotomi Hideyoshi, 1537-1598) unusually rendered seated atop a camp stool, with well-carved wooden head covered in gofun with large inset glass eyes, silk fiber hair drawn into a tight topknot, painted details, wearing signature winged cap embossed with paulownia and gourd designs, elaborate gumbai military fan in right hand with unusual Abe no Seimei (921-1005) onmyoji star, exceptional kinran brocade trousers, long sword at hip, fur covered boots, lacquered paper armor with metal fittings, breastplate with Paulownia crest, luxurious black birodo velvet trimmed kamishimo outer coat, losses to fur on boots, wear to birodo collar, overall fine condition, 20” High.
