Exceptional mitsuore (triple-jointed doll)attributed to Yamakawa Keijiro (Eitokusai II, 1858-1928), finely executed girl doll of all-wood construction covered in a lightly pigmented gofun, flat, gosho-style joinery, large inset glass eyes, real hair in the okappa style with front bangs, well-rendered hands and feet with exceptional toe and finger detail, wearing a boldly patterned chirimen silk crepe kimono, and an unusual Western style underwear of silk gauze with pocket. Minor cracks along shin, minor torso cracking, minor discoloration to gofun, overall fine condition. Mounted on Maruhei display base. Figure: 24” (Overall 26”).
